2025 Chardonnay
Tasting Notes
This wine captures Chardonnay at its best in the mountains—rich yet lifted, in both tension and harmony. Long prized for balance, our 2025 Chardonnay stays true to that tradition, opening with tropical fruit and Meyer lemon, backed by toasty brioche and a hint of flint. On the palate, it’s generous but precise, with ample acidity carrying the wine through a long, clean finish.
Vineyard Notes
Our estate Chardonnay comes from six distinct blocks planted between 2,400 and 2,700 feet. Each site varies in exposure and soil depth, and we farm a mix of head-trained and cordon-trained vines. Four clones are matched block-by-block to best suit each set of conditions.
Most vineyards face northwest on gentle slopes of finely decomposed volcanic material. They capture bright morning sun while staying sheltered from warmer late-day heat, promoting steady ripening and preserving freshness and vibrancy.
Winemaker Notes
Premium mountain fruit is the keystone of our distinctive Chardonnay. Planted across varying elevations and exposures, our vineyards deliver layered flavors and natural complexity.
Fermentation is split between stainless steel and barrel. Cool stainless ferments progress slowly over four weeks, while the barrel lots are aged on lees with weekly stirring through malolactic fermentation and monthly stirring thereafter, building texture and depth. A portion of the wine completes malolactic fermentation, while the remainder does not, preserving lift and vibrancy. Aging is divided between stainless steel and neutral French, Hungarian, and Slovenian oak hogsheads.
