2022 Syrah
Tasting Notes
Planted on a south-facing slope at 2,600 feet, our estate Syrah benefits from cooling breezes, ample sunlight, and deep, well-drained volcanic soils, conditions that highlight both floral lift and savory depth.
The 2022 Estate Syrah is dense and rich, yet beautifully complex, with cassis, violet, and clove layered over dark chocolate and olive tapenade. Built to age, it’s also already drinking well thanks to refined tannins and a vibrant, savory finish.
Vineyard Notes
Rhône grapes thrive in El Dorado County, and Syrah feels especially at home here. Our Estate Syrah is rooted on a southwest-facing slope of deep, loamy volcanic soil. At 2,700 feet, the site offers sweeping views to the Coast Range almost 100 miles away. Reminiscent of the great hillsides of Côte-Rôtie, it captures generous sun from cool mornings into warm afternoons, ideal for ripening with nuance and freshness.
Winemaker Notes
Primary and malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel, followed by 36 months of aging in 100% second- and third-fill François Frères French oak barrels.
